Concrete Pavers

The use of concrete pavers is expanding rapidly; they offer the customer a wide choice of patterns, colors, shapes and sizes, for their driveway, patio, pool deck, walkway or paths. One of the most popular concrete paver designs is a colored body with a contrasting edge (known as a soldier or sailor course).  This gives a great looking finish and the color can help to hide any stains. Concrete pavers are widely used on both commercial and residential landscaping projects, primarily due to their variety, ease of installation and relatively low cost.

Some of the many benefits of concrete pavers include their durability, strength, adaptability to all weather conditions, and ease of installation and repair. The interlocking version of concrete pavers also provides better weight distribution and is therefore less likely to sustain damage from heavy vehicular traffic.

Another advantage of concrete pavers is that they come in such a great variety that there are virtually no design restrictions.  Some manufacturers will even custom make them to your specification.  That means that the designer can select a paver that will complement your existing environment, whether it's new and modern, or mature and historic.

One point to bear in mind in installing a large area of concrete pavers is that, as with any colored concrete product, there can be slight variations in color between batches.  It is therefore important to try to get all the pavers you will need at the same time, and to check that they all carry the same batch number.  Pulling pavers from multiple cubes will also help to conceal color and/or batch variances.

With the multitude of options available with concrete pavers, it can be confusing trying to choose the right one.  It is important to consult your designer on this so that he can help you to make the right choice for your landscape and budget.
