Arbors and Trellises

What are the first things that come to mind when you think of planning a garden?  For most people they will be:

  • Patio
  • Garden walls
  • Paths and walkways
  • Water feature
  • Plantings

And all of those faetures are important - they are the 'bones' of the landscape: they provide structure and tie all the areas together.  But the finishing touches are also important: things such as gazebos, arbors and trellises.arbors and trellises

They may be simple structures such as an arch to support climbing roses or wisteria, or a grand pergola rising high over garden seats, or a trellis curtaining off the vegetable garden and compost heap.  But they all add to the splendor of the garden and the outdoor experience.

A wooden arbor will help to set off a paved walkway, or can act as an entryway into another section of the garden.  Using structures like this helps to create the feeling of different spaces, or rooms, within the garden setting.  And a garden arbor can make an ideal setting for a wedding or an al fresco garden party to enjoy with family and friends.

And to give visual continuity to the effect, a trellis makes a perfect matching complement.  It can be left just as it is built or, more attractively, used to train climbing plants such as honeysuckle, clematis, or even a grape vine!

A great advantage of arbors and trellises is that they are easy and quick to build, and will enhance the appeal of your garden in a few days, but be there for you and your family to enjoy for years to come.
